Nizampur police official Saleem Khan told The Express Tribune, that a fisherman informed them at noon that he had spotted multiple bodies on the junction where both rivers meet.
Police rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies to the police station for identification.
According to the official, no one has come forward to claim the bodies.
“No NICs were found with the bodies,” he said. “However, all six men seem to be between 28 to 34 years old.”
The bodies do not bear any torture marks, Khan added.
Initial investigations have revealed that all six men were gunned down in an undisclosed location and their bodies were dumped into River Kabul.
According to Khan, the bodies were taken to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Nowshera for autopsy and subsequently placed in a morgue.
“If no one comes by Sunday morning, we will perform the last rites and bury the bodies,” he added.
A case has been registered and further investigations are under way.
