Missing persons: Protesters urge implementation of law

ISLAMABAD: Enraged protesters gathered at a popular intersection in Sector F-6 and requested for simultaneous protests in major cities around the country to condemn the abduction and killing of young Sindhi political activists across the province. Members of Insani Huqooq Ittehad (IHI) an Islamabad-based voluntary network of civil society organisations and other protesters held placards and chanted slogans against the government and non-state actors who they claim are responsible for the abductions. The participants denounced the ‘heinous, extra-judicial killings’ and abductions of political activists in Sindh and termed the state’s silence as ‘criminal’. They demanded that all missing persons be produced before courts and that the parliament and provincial and federal governments play their role to bring an end to these killings.
