
Police said that Muhammad Abdul Waheed, a resident of Chak 267-RB, beat his son up over his absence from a seminary where he had been enrolled.
Muhammad Javaid, a maternal uncle of the boy, told The Express Tribune that Zakaullah was a student at a seminary. He said that he did not ask for permission to leave the seminary and had also skipped some classes there.
He said his teacher reported his absence to his father. He said when Waheed heard about his absence, he called his son and beat him.
He said Zakaullah died soon afterwards.
City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Habib Tajik directed Dijkot station house officer to arrest Waheed as soon as possible.
The SHO said a team was formed to arrest Waheed. He said he was arrested from his house some time later. He said a case had been registered against him and investigations were underway.
