Peaceful procession: Chehlum observed amid high security
The main bazaar and roads linking to the procession routes were sealed off on Saturday afternoon
HARIPUR:
The Chehlum of the martyrs of Karbala was observed on Sunday. Alam-zuljinah procession started from Imambargah Qadeemia Purani Committee Chowk and culminated at Jafri House. Addressing the mourners, Shia leaders Allama Nasir Abbas Jafri and Muntazir Mehdi highlighted the sacrifices of Imam Hussain and his companions. They urged Muslims to unite against anti-Islam forces, saying disunity and differences among Muslims is why they face problems across the world. Mourners from Muzaffarabad, Abbottabad, Taxila, Mankray, Havelian and other parts of the country participated in the procession. The main bazaar and roads linking to the procession routes were sealed off on Saturday afternoon. Heavy contingents of police were deployed along the routes and walkthrough gates were placed to screen the participants.
