Crime against women: Woman, minor assaulted

BAHAWALPUR: A woman and a four-year-old were assaulted in two incidents on Monday.

Khanpur police said Shabana*, a mother of six, had told them that she was alone at home when Abdul Ghafoor and Riaz Ahmad came and told her that her daughter was sick. She said they took her with them to a house on a motorbike and locked her in a room. She said Ghafoor and Ahmad then raped her on gunpoint.

She said later, they forced her to take sedatives. She said when she fainted, they abandoned her by the side of a road.

A Khanpur police spokesman said Shabana’s complaint had been registered and police were waiting for the medico-legal report to make arrests.

Separately, Babloo, 20, was caught assaulting a four-year-old girl in Nadir Garden.

Police said some people heard her screams and caught Babloo in the act.

They beat him and informed the police. Ahmadpur East City police arrested the man and took the girl to tehsil headquarters hospital for medical assistance.
