PPP workers asked to gear up efforts

PPP leader said local bodies elections 2011 nearing, time had come to mobilise party workers for it.

PESHAWAR: Adviser to the Prime Minister on State and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Asma Arbab Alamgir here on Sunday asked party workers to gear up for the local bodies elections 2011. She expressed the hope that the party would win the elections with thumping majority on the basis of its performance.

Addressing party workers and delegations from Malakand, Buner and Dir districts, Ms Alamgir, who is president of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PPP Women wing, said that party workers were real assets of the party. Preference in awarding tickets would be given to those party workers who contributed a lot for the party.

She the sacrifices and interests of workers and leaders would not be compromised.

The PPP leader said that local bodies election were nearing and time has come to mobilise people for it.

She said the government was striving hard to address problems of flood victims, adding the first instalment of Rs20,000 under Watan Card scheme is being given to them to rebuild at least a room before winter season.

MNA Asma said that PPP is the symbol of federation and its leaders had embraced martyrdom for the socio-economic emancipation of downtrodden and did not bow to imperialist forces.

She said after coming into power, PPP has reinstated sacked employees and addressed key issues like NFC, Balochistan package, peace in Malakand Division and landmark 18th Constitutional Amendment. She urged the party workers to inform masses about the achievements of the government.

The PPP leader accepted the invitation of Dir delegation to visit their district.
