Gathering of the devout : Urs of Bahauddin Zakariya begins

MULTAN: The 775th celebrations of death anniversary of Bahauddin Zakariya started in Multan on Friday. The celebrations will continue for three days. The district government has announced a public holiday on Saturday (today). As many as 15 schools and colleges have been vacated to accommodate 100,000 people arriving from all over the country. Operations SSP Chaudhary Saleem said 900 police officials had been deployed for security. The celebrations were inaugurated on Friday by Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Qureshi said that health officials would children vaccinate against polio at the celebrations. He himself gave polio drops to some children on the occassion. Qureshi said the government should ensure safety of health workers during the polio vaccination drive.
