Winter is coming: FDE to take extra measures

APP November 25, 2014

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has decided to take precautionary measures to protect students of various colleges and schools from the cold weather. Talking to APP, FDE spokesperson Muhammad Tahir Bhatti said the directorate has directed its monitoring team to visit various schools and colleges to check missing facilities. Bhatti said most of the model colleges are equipped with heating facilities to protect students from cold weather during winter; however, the educational institutions especially of the Federal Government (FG) lack such facilities. He said FG institutions are facing difficulties, especially after the abolishment of the student fund which will help them make missing facilities available. The FDE has also directed its officials to ensure repair of broken windowpanes in different colleges and schools to protect students from the cold. Bhatti also added that the model colleges with heating facilities were unable to utilise the facility due to low gas pressure ahead of the harsh winter.
