Death toll reaches 22 as 2 more babies die in Sargodha hospital

SARGODHA: Two more infants died in Sargodha District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) on Sunday, taking the death toll to 22 in last five days, Express News reported.

The children allegedly died due to insufficient oxygen supply and doctors’ negligence.

Earlier on November 22, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the deaths and ordered police to look into the matter after a three-member investigation committee sent him a comprehensive report on the issue.

Further, Health Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik had suspended Medical Superintendent Iqbal Sami for negligent medical treatment provided in the hospital. The charge was given to Sargodha Health Services Director Dr Najam.
