
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced internships on Saturday for women graduates at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Affairs.
He was addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at Queen Mary College.
He said 40 researchers from the European Union had been hired for teaching courses on legislature’s rules of business of parliamentary affairs and traditions.
He said that 100,000 laptops had been distributed among students under E-Youth Initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Sadiq said that the distribution of laptops among Queen Mary College students in his constituency was an acknowledgement of their abilities by the government.
He said that of the 342 members of the National Assembly, 69 were women parliamentarians.
“Women today are playing a greater role in legislation than ever before,” he said.
Sadiq said that he had asked provincial education departments to introduce parliamentary studies at all public and private universities.
He said that the federal government was also providing 100,000 laptops to students.
Punjab Higher Education Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal said that the budget for education was Rs274 billion, and Rs 4.54 billion for the distribution of laptops among deserving students across the province.
