Stringent measures: ‘Bar council elections plans finalised’

FAISALABAD: CPO Sohail Habib Tajik said on Friday that police had finalised security arrangements for the Punjab Bar Council elections that are set to commence today (Saturday). He was speaking to reporters after meeting with lawyers. Tajik said 12 polling stations had been set-up across the district. He said nine polling stations had been setup on city and tehsil courts premises. Tajik said three SPs, four DSPs, two inspectors, nine SIs, 21 ASIs and over 200 head constables and constables had been deployed to secure the polling stations. He said two teams of the Elite Force would remain on guard in the session’s court vicinity to prevent any untoward incident. Tajik said public display of weapons had been banned on the eve of the elections. He said bomb disposal squads had been directed to sweep all polling stations to ensure the absence of explosives. Tajik said this was being done to protect the life and property of those participating in the elections.
