Suspected TTP operative killed in encounter

Two people, an alleged member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and a suspected gangster, were killed in encounters with the law enforcement agencies on Thursday.


According to the police, an operative of the TTP identified as Abdur Rehman was shot dead by the law enforcement agencies during an alleged encounter on Thursday morning in Gulshan-e-Buner, Landhi. Landhi SHO Amanullah Marwat told The Express Tribune that the Rangers received a tip-off on Rehman's presence in a house located near Hanafi masjid in Gulshan-e-Buner. The Rangers, accompanied by a police team, raided the house.

Upon seeing the officials, Rehman opened fire at them. He was killed in the retaliatory fire. The Sindh government had placed head money worth Rs1.5 million on him.

Separately, an alleged member of a Lyari-based gang was killed in an encounter with the Napier police on Wednesday night. According to police officials, 30-year-old Nabil opened fire on the police near Baraf Khana, Lyari. The police returned the fire and Nabil was injured during the exchange and later succumbed to injuries. Police officials said that he belonged to the Baba Ladla group.

Meanwhile, unidentified men gunned down a 59-year-old man identified as Bahadar Ali on Thursday noon near Ibrahim Ali bhai Auditorium, Nishtar Road. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Soldier Bazaar police.

Separately, the three-day old body of a man was found under the Natha Khan Bridge on Thursday, reported the Shah Faisal Colony police. According to police officials, the man was 30 years old and the mark on his head suggested that he might have fallen off the bridge.
