Anushka opens up about Virat Kohli

Actor believes speaking about her relationship in public would make ‘its sanctity go away’

For an actor who is almost six-years-old in the film industry, Ansuhka Sharma hasn’t followed the rules. The actor, who has so far starred in seven films opposite some of the biggest industry names, such as Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor will soon be seen sharing screen with Aamir Khan in the upcoming film PK.

In a recent interview with the Hindustan Times, she opened up about her personal life and relationship with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli.

The actor denied rumours she was engaged to Kohli and termed them nothing but “absolute rubbish”.

Sharma, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Shahrukh Khan in the 2008 romantic-comedy Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, said that the major problem with all of these reports pertaining to her personal life was that they seemed so authentic that even her own family starting believing them.

“When reports of my engagement came out, my grandmother, who lives in Dehradun, called my dad to ask how he could get me engaged without informing her. It took all of us a lot to convince her that it wasn’t true,” remarked the 26-year-old actor.

Despite all this, the PK star had no qualms about accepting her relationship but avoids public discussions as she feels that doing that would make the relationship’s “sanctity go away”, “I lead my life very openly. I have never denied or hidden anything. It’s just that I don’t like to talk about my private life.”

She further added that a major reason why she refrains from speaking to the media about her relationship is that if she speaks once, she would be expected to provide verbal confirmation every time.

“If I talk, then I’ll be liable to answer all sorts of questions because if I have come out and spoken once then I’ll be expected to keep talking. I feel, the minute we talk about our private lives, all the focus just shifts there,” said the model-turned-actor.

The PK star had recently courted controversy for her appearance on the talk show Koffee with Karan. Sharma had been accused of undergoing a cosmetic procedure to enhance her lips, a rumor she also laid to rest by speaking on the matter on the micro blogging website Twitter.

“I was completely stumped by the reactions. I could have never imagined that people could be so vicious. The comments were so personal, and what they were insinuating could have very grave consequences. Forget all about the comments on looking good or bad, they said things like I had a surgery done. That is serious. So, I had to speak up,” exclaimed Sharma.
