Sustainable energy: Germany honours Pakistani scientists
Germany selects young researchers among 25 green visionaries, honours them with “Green Talents 2014” Award
ISLAMABAD:
Germany has honoured Pakistani scientists Dr Asad Mehmood and Dr Muhammad Saifur Rehman with “Green Talents 2014” Award. German Federal Minister for Education and Research Professor Johanna Wanka gave the awards in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Education in Berlin on Saturday, said a message received here. The young researchers were selected among 25 green visionaries. The Green Talents award is an internationally recognised prize for young researchers in the field of sustainability research. A high-ranking jury of experts annually selects the winners that received a record number of over 800 applications from more than 100 countries. In her speech of commendation, Prof Wanka stressed the importance of the Green Talents Programme for future international science cooperation. “The global sustainability goals can only be achieved through scientific cooperation and the exchange of knowledge. This calls for personal meetings between young scientists across national borders,” she added.
