KARACHI: Test discard Kamran Akmal smashed a double century while Hammad Azam took six wickets as NBP battled Lahore Lions on day two of the sixth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Gold edition at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Akmal scored a brilliant 275 off 334 balls after playing for 134.3 overs to post 542-9 before declaring the innings. Azam dismissed six batsmen to restrict Lions to 159 in their first innings with NBP leading with 383 runs.

In another match, Peshawar Panthers surprised second ranked SNGPL by restricting them to just 135 runs in 57 overs.

Taj Wali took six wickets with Azizullah taking the other four as they bowled out SNGPL who had resumed their innings on 90-4 on Thursday. At the end of the day’s play, Panthers were at 143-7 after playing 51 overs of their second innings.

At National Stadium of Karachi, Karachi Dolphins posted a strong total of 411 against UBL with Muahmmad Waqas scoring 87 and Babar Agha 75. UBL’s Adil Raza took five wickets and Juniad Ilyas three.

UBL were at 134-1 after 49 overs of play of their first innings at the day’s end.

At Diamond Ground in Islamabad, PQA’s Sohail Khan took eight wickets to restrict Islamabad Leopards to 158 in 53.3 overs.

The Leopards had resumed their first innings at 115-6 but were only able to add 43 runs in 18.3 overs on day two as Khan took eight wickets for 91 runs. Abdur Rauf grabbed the other two wickets. At the end of the day’s play, PQA had posted a total of 247-8 in 58.3 overs with Khaild Latif batting at 56.

Ahmed Raseed scored 120 off 262 balls for Multan Tigers to post 258-6 in 102 overs against ZTBL. The Tigers had resumed their innings at 17-0 and added 241 runs in 90 overs at the end of day two.

Rawalpindi Rams are batting at 256-6 with Yasim Murtaza on 69 with Talha Qureshi on 52 against WAPDA, while Baber Naeem contributed 87 runs. Earlier, WAPDA had resumed their innings at 287-8 but could add only 19 runs to their total in 6.1 overs on day two.

Meanwhile, in the silver edition, Tabish Khan of SSGC took seven wickets to restrict HBL to 112 runs in 41 overs with Nasir Malik taking three wickets.

HBL had resumed their first innings at 66-5, but could only add 46 runs in 16.3 overs on day two. SSGC were batting at 173-6 after 56 overs of play with Muhammad Waqas batting on 75.

In another match, a strong opening partnership between Imranullah and Adeel Basit lead Bahawalpur Stags to end day two on 205-0 after 59 overs of play against Abbottabad Falcons.

Imranullah is batting at 118 off 190 balls while Basit scored 76 off 172 balls. Earlier, Falcons had resumed their innings on 289-4 and added 94 runs in 33.1 overs.

In the Sialkot Stallions versus Fisalabad Wolves match, Waqas Ahmed and Hasan Ali bowled the Wolves out for 154 after 59.2 overs. Ahmed took four wicket while Ali dismissed three batsmen.

In response, the Stallions were at 162-5 after 41.4 overs in their second innings at the end of the day’s play.

Meanwhile, Noman Ali took five wickets as KRL bowled out PIA for 241 after 87.1 overs of play. PIA had resumed their innings from the overnight score of 114-4 and added 127 runs in 54.1 overs with Tahir Khan scoring 62.

KRL were at 81-2 after 28.2 overs of their second innings at stumps.

Quetta Bears were bowled out for 180 in 77.4 overs as Nasir Owais took four wickets with Babar Khan’s three for Hyderabad Hawks. Hawks were at 59-2 after 31 overs of their second innings play as the stumps were called.

In another match, Ahmed Iqbals five wicket haul helped Karachi Zebras to restrict Lahore Eagles to 198 runs in 76.2 overs. Along with Iqbal, Maroof Aziz and Zohaib Sehra took two wickets each. At the end of the day’s play, the Zebras were at 20-2 after eight overs of their second innings play.
