Maryam Nawaz resigns as PM's youth loan programme chairperson

The Prime Minister's Youth Loan Programme chairperson Maryam Nawaz resigned from her post on Wednesday.

Maryam, in a statement, explained that she was glad to have served the youth, adding that she worked on a volunteer and honourary basis.

"I feel extremely humbled for the opportunity to serve the youth of Pakistan via the programme," said Maryam.

She added that the program is now in great shape and on track for the next five years.
“I'm happy that there is good momentum behind these revolutionary initiatives that are now being emulated in various places internationally and are being appreciated by many millions, this is an honour for Pakistan.”

Maryam further said that she felt it was an appropriate moment to hand over the reigns of the programme to another equally dedicated individual.

“This programme is here to stay and will touch new heights in days, weeks and months ahead.”

She added that though she is resigning from the youth loan programme, she intends to continue her ‘voluntary service’ for Pakistan and its people.

“Nothing ever will deter me from serving my people and the cause of my land, with or without office, designation.”

Maryam said Pakistani women need to step up, work hard, compete and contribute to build a strong Pakistan.

"I support all women, who, against so many odds, are brave enough to come out and struggle hard," said Maryam.

Maryam had been appointed as head of PM’s youth loan scheme on November 22, 2013.

The Lahore High Court had sought a reply from Maryam by November 5 while hearing a petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zubair Niazi challenging her appointment. Her appointment had also been challenged in the Islamabad High Court.

The petitioner claimed that the appointment was a result of sheer nepotism.

The messages of PMLN trolls seem to honor Maryam Nawaz for her act of Honesty and Nobelness. I ask them the question that she resigned only after pressure from Court. If court did not pressurize then would she have left thee post? NEVER! PMLN is dynasty family limited company. if she had voluntarily resigned and asked apology for the wrong appointment, then I would have appreciated her act. Everyone know how she treated the Bakery owner when her order got delayed.

@Naz: Please don't be miss guided. Nawaz did it coz he was under pressure. Why do you think Nawaz placed her in the first place? Because of Nepotism. Now you wont know what is!
