“I like that I will leave a 10-film filmography, so I’ve got two more to go after this. It’s not etched in stone, but that is the plan,” said Tarantino. “If I get to the 10th and do a good job, it sounds like a good way to end the old career,” he added, reported IANS. “I think directing is a young man’s game, and I like the idea of an umbilical cord connection from my first to my last movie.”
However, he said that if he gets a good script after his 10th film, then he might consider continuing directing. “If I come across a good movie later on, I wouldn’t not do it just because I said I wouldn’t. But 10 and done, leaving them wanting more... that sounds right,” he said.
On the question of what he’ll pursue if he’s not making films, he said, “[I plan on] writing plays and books, going gracefully into my tender years. I don’t believe you should stay onstage until people are begging you to get off.”
Tarantino’s latest directorial venture The Hateful Eight had been put on hold in January 2014 when its script had leaked online. However, the Oscar-winning writer and director reversed his decision later this year. The film starring Channing Tatum, Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russel is about a group of outlaws left stranded by a blizzard, and is slated to release in 2015.
