Stimulating growth: Rs3.54 billion issued for development
Commissioner says Rs1.27 billion issued for construction of roads across Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR:
Bahawalpur Commissioner Captain (r) Javed Akbar said on Monday that the provincial government had issued Rs3.54 billion rupees for 263 development projects in Bahawalpur. He said half of the work on these projects had been completed. He was addressing a meeting of the divisional coordination committee. Federal Education Minister Baligur Rehman was also present. The meeting reviewed projects related to education, health, infrastructure, sports and water. The commissioner said Rs1.27 billion had been issued for construction of roads across the division. He said a road would be built from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur Road and a bypass would be constructed from Head Rajkaan to Ahmadpur East, Yazman to Ahmadpur East and Mubarakpur to Jhangi. He told the meeting that the government had allocated Rs500 million for the construction of a bridge over River Indus at Meeranpur and Bangla Acha for those travelling from Rajanpur to Rahim Yar Khan. He said in Khanpur, Rs40 million would be spent on construction of Cholistan Cadet College and Rs75 million would be spent on the development of parks.
