MULTAN: All Pakistan Bed Sheets and Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA) Chairman Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi suggested introducing policies that take into account competitors’ strategies as well to capture a wider share in the international market. He said that home textile products of southern Punjab were in demand in countries like Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Roomi urged the government to send APBUMA delegates to these countries to hold exhibitions. Roomi added that the textile sector – which contributes 58% to exports – was facing extreme hardships in maintaining standards set in the global market. Roomi, who is the board of management chairman of Nishtar Medical Institutions and also served as provincial minister for industries, requested the government to facilitate the manufacturing sector and exporters, adding that pending claims and refund cases of exporters should also be given priority.
