Gutted: Sock factory catches fire

The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained

KARACHI: Goods worth millions of rupees turned to ashes as a fire erupted in a sock factory in SITE on Monday. The fire broke out at around 7:40am at the factory, which is close to the Ali Enterprises factory where more than 289 people lost their lives in a deadly inferno in 2012. A fire brigade spokesperson said that two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the site and eight more reached it later to help extinguish the conflagration. He added that the firefighters were able to cool the blaze after an effort of two hours. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.
