Trained manpower vital for economic development

Sustainable economic growth and industrial development linked with technical education and vocational training

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh said on Friday that trained manpower was a prerequisite for economic development.


He was speaking to a two-member delegation of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Tevta Secretariat. Shaikh said sustainable economic growth and industrial development was inextricably linked with technical education and vocational training.  He said it was imperative to promote technical education to alleviate poverty.

Shaikh said the authority would introduce courses according to industrial needs on the recommendation of private business representatives. He said the Tevta was striving to obtain their input to revamp its courses. Shaikh said the authority would prioritise their needs regarding this. He said the initiative had been taken following a policy directive by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. FCCI President Rizwan Ashraf promised to cooperate with the authority regarding the promotion of technical education.
