Motive Unknown: Former policeman shot dead

The official presumed the attack might have been carried out by militants in the area

SWABI: Two people, including a retired policeman, were gunned down on Friday in Gadoon Industrial Estate and Panjpir areas of Swabi. According to an official of the Gadoon police, Usman Ghani, a resident of Malikabad, filed a case with police stating his son Mehar Ghani, a retired police official, had left home to go to Gadoon Industrial Estate when two men on a motorbike opened fire on him. Mehar died on the spot while the attackers escaped, he added. Following the shooting, locals shifted Mehar’s body to Topi Civil Hospital for an autopsy. The official presumed the attack might have been carried out by militants in the area. Separately, a man was killed and his father was severely injured when unidentified motorcyclists shot at them in Panjpir. According to a police official, cloth merchant Aslam Khan and his son Miskeen Khan were heading home from their shop in Swabi Bazaar when three men on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire.
