PCB starts Doping Control Program

In every first-class match, two players are selected for dope testing

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) began collecting samples on Friday under its Doping Control Program, which is based on officials selecting two players to be tested in every first-class match.

For the last three years, during the domestic season, the PCB has regularly conducted the Doping Awareness Educational Program as well as the In-Competition Dope Testing.

“In order to familiarise players and managements with doping issues, like [we did] in the previous two years, the PCB also launched a Doping Awareness lecture series with all its regional as well as departmental teams appearing in first-class cricket in 2014-15,” said Dr Sohail Saleem, PCB’s head of Medical and Sports Sciences.

“In every first-class match, two players will be selected for dope testing by a draw conducted by the match referee or the respective managers of the playing teams.”
