LAHORE:

The office of Lahore High Court (LHC) registrar returned on Thursday an appeal filed by Shahid Nazir alias Gullu Butt against his conviction for damaging private property during the June 17 Model Town violence.

It said that the office was unable to entertain the appeal by Gullu Butt as the letter of attorney had not been signed by him, the appellant.

A lawyer for the accused told journalists that he was unable to meet the requirement as jail authorities had not returned the signed document.

He said he would file the appeal again after obtaining the requisite document. An anti-terrorism court has sentenced Butt to 11 years and three months in prison under five counts.
