Industries Department Deputy Chief Inspector (boilers) Ghulam Haider was shot dead by two men at his office on Wednesday. Investigation SSP Saifullah Khan told newsmen that two men between the ages of 30 and 35 had entered Industries Department and introduced themselves as Irfan and Imran, residents of Bahawalpur. They said they wanted to meet deputy Haider and went to into his office. They then shot and killed him. The men snatched mobile phones from workers and from a rickshaw driver. The SSP said they later threw the mobile phones into nearby a Circuit House. He said initial reports suggested that someone had wanted revenge from Haider. He said the officer belonged to Bahawalpur and had been serving in Multan for a year. The SSP said the police had collected finger prints and other evidence from the scene. He said the body had been taken to Nishtar Hospital for autopsy.
