Pakistan celebrates third day of Eidul Azha

The feast of sacrifice is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across the country.

People across Pakistan celebrate the the third day of Eidul Azha on Friday, the final day for the sacrifice of animals.

The sacrificing began after Eid prayers on Wednesday morning and will continue today (Friday) . Eidul Azha is an essential religious rite in memory of the sacrifice performed by the Prophet Abraham.

The feast of sacrifice is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm across the country.

Gen Kayani visits LoC

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani visited the Line of  Control in Lipa and Jehlum valley on the second day of Eidul Azha.

General Kayani visited the forward posts and spent the whole day with the troops. He was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Khalid Nawaz Khan.

The army chief appreciated the morale of the soldiers who were positioned on advance posts.

Kayani asserted that the nation is proud of its soldiers for performing their duties under tough circumstances, to secure the country.

Collecting animal hides

Various religious organisations have made arrangements for collective sacrifice of animals. Political and religious parties are also trying to collect as many hides of sacrificed animals as possible.

Municipal committees have made special arrangements to ensure the complete and proper disposal of animal remains.

Hajj comes to a close

Meanwhile, pilgrims have wrapped up the rituals of the annual pilgrimage of Hajj with the symbolic stoning of the devil in Mina valley, near Makkah on Thursday.

Stoning has in the past been marked by deadly stampedes but Saudi authorities have now revamped the area, with no major incidents reported so far.
