JI, PTI have mutual agenda to end status quo: Sirajul Haq
While briefing the media after a one-on-one meeting with PTI chief Imran Khan, JI Amir Sirajul Haq said both parties had a mutual agenda of ending the status quo, and to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state.
Chiefs of the two parties, who partner in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, met in Islamabad on Wednesday to remove any misunderstandings between the two over their stance on the current political saga in the country.
“We have agreed to fight for a system where there is merit and justice,” Haq said. “The existing system has failed to provide welfare to the people.”
The JI Amir called for a transparent mechanism, where rigging is not possible and is free from any kind of national or international pressure.
“All those involved in rigging should be brought to the book,” he said.
Commenting on the current political crises in Pakistan, he said dialogue between protesters and the government should continue.
Haq also condemned the death sentences of JI leaders in Bangladesh, saying that their only crime was to side with the Pakistani state in 1971.
Sit-in to continue till justice is provided: Imran
Imran, speaking on the occasion, reiterated that the PTI sit-in will not end till those who rigged the 2013 polls were held accountable.
“We will keep on staging the sit-in until we get justice,” he said.
The PTI leader added he had made certain suggestions, which the JI head could put forth to the government.
