VDMA says overall incoming orders rise by 13% compared with September 2014

BERLIN: A strong jump in orders from abroad helped drive Germany’s key mechanical engineering sector higher in September, the VDMA industry federation said Monday. The manufacture of machine tools is an important part of Germany’s industrial and export performance. In September, overall incoming orders rose by 13% compared with the same month a year earlier, VDMA said in a statement. Export orders jumped 24% but domestic orders fell by nine percent, it said. The month was bolstered by numerous big orders from non-Eurozone countries, VDMA chief economist Ralph Wiechers said in the statement. Taking a three-month comparison to iron out short-term fluctuations, overall orders rose by five percent in the period of July to September.
