A Christian woman condemned to death four years ago for blasphemy is losing hope that she will be freed or pardoned, her husband, who lives in hiding because of his wife’s conviction, told AFP on Friday.
Aasia Bibi has been on death row since November 2010 after she was found guilty of making derogatory remarks about the Prophet (PBUH) during an argument with another woman.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) confirmed the death sentence two weeks ago, dashing hopes it might be commuted to a jail term.
Speaking to AFP after visiting her wife for the first time since the LHC’s ruling, Ashiq Masih said it had come as a crushing blow.
“Aasia was hopeful that her appeal would be admitted and she would be freed, but now she has lost hope,” Masih told AFP. “She was distraught, weeping for most of the time I had with her, appealing to the Supreme Court and president to use their powers to give
her justice.”
Pakistan has never executed anyone for blasphemy and has had a de-facto moratorium on civilian executions since 2008.

I am waiting for the day when Asia is executed or killed. Truth of Pakistan will be exposed.
It seems that Pakistan is in grip of the God Almighty Religionists ,the Spanish Inquisition has resurfaced with a vengeance: I do not remember from the Days of Lightness, the Prophet's time, he who that insulted the Messenger was put to death. The elites who virtually ignore any ruling of the highest courts , and yet this is the only questionable law that is followed with the utmost thoughtless zeal
"Surely there are some valid cases of blasphemy... "
Not in The Civilized World!
Pakistan hasn't executed anyone for blasphemy because people beat, torture and often kill and burn the accused before anything is even proven.
Surely there are some valid cases of blasphemy but they must go to court and a fair trial. There are no doubt cases where false allegations are used against non-muslims, and this is a greater injustice than blasphemy itself accrding to Islam.
Shedding the blood of the innocent has become a joke in Pakistan. And people think these injustices and murders will take them heaven !

Very gladdening to hear. Can this de-facto moratorium on executions be extended to the year 5008?
