Lahore High Court on Thursday sought a report from the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on steps taken for recovery of an injured Pakistani girl from her aunt’s custody in the UK.
Greta Rose told the court that her daughter-in-law Shabnum Barkat had gone to India in June. She took her four-year-old daughter Jumera Jaan with her.
Rose said her daughter-in-law died in a road accident and her granddaughter was injured. She said the child was taken to a hospital.
She said the girl’s maternal aunt, Shazia Naz, had taken the girl to the UK.
Justice Shehzada Mazhar asked the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs to explain how and why the girl was taken to the UK.
The court also asked the ministries to submit details of Naz’s passport.
