SUKKUR:

A woman and a man were gunned down by armed men allegedly for ‘honour’ in Amanullah Baghdar village situated within the limits of the Nabi Shah Wagan police station in Shikarpur’s katcha area.

According to sources, the incident took place on Wednesday evening when Mehboob Baghdar, a resident of Balochistan, went to visit his uncle, Roshan Baghdar. Mehboob’s uncle suspected that his daughter, Pathani, wife of Rehmatullah, was in a relationship with her cousin.

On Wednesday evening, Pathani was busy cooking a meal and Mehboob was seated next to her when Roshan opened fire at them with his Kalashnikov. Both of them died on the spot and Roshan managed to escape from the scene of crime before the police arrived.

The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Shikarpur and Madeji hospital for the postmortem. They were handed over to the family later for burial.

Sources claim that the deceased Mehboob used to live in the same village but moved to Balochistan two years ago due to some domestic issues. They added that Mehboob had some agricultural land near the village which was being looked after by his uncle. These sources believe that Mehboob was murdered by his uncle as he had come to inspect the land.

Pathani’s husband surrendered before the police and said that he had helped his father-in-law kill Pathani and her cousin. A case has yet to be filed.
