Ambassadors-at-large: Shahbaz praises contribution of overseas Pakistanis

CM says commission being established to resolve their problems.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that overseas Pakistanis had made a marked contribution to national development.


He was addressing a reception organised by the Pakistani community in London. The chief minister said overseas Pakistanis including engineers, doctors, bankers and businessmen residing in scores of countries had also made a noted contribution to their adopted countries. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) highly appreciated their role in developing the national economy.

Sharif said the government had the responsibility of resolving the problems confronting them. He said the government had introduced legislation to establish a commission regarding this.  The chief minister said Pakistan was fighting scores of challenges. He said the energy crisis and terrorism had irreparably damaged the nation. Sharif said street politics had also compromised national development.

He said the government was striving to place the country back on the road to progress and prosperity under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said the government had taken scores of initiatives to serve the people.



The chief minister said the nation would overcome the challenges confronting it with popular support, diligence and hard work. He said he was confident that Pakistan would be able to eradicate terrorism and the energy crisis in the future. Sharif said the damage done to the national economy due to the sit-ins at Islamabad’s D-Chowk would be reversed by commitment and hard work. He said the government had fostered an investor-friendly environment in the country. The chief minister said investors were being provided with all kinds of facilities under one roof.

He urged overseas Pakistanis to heavily invest in Pakistan. Sharif said the government would facilitate them and protect their investments.

The chief minister said the government was striving to strengthen the national economy and its policies were yielding positive results.
