PESHAWAR:

Eighty people including doctors and community members were trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) by Khyber Teaching Hospital in the past two weeks, stated a handout issued by the hospital on Monday. Titled ‘Razia Sultana Basic Life Support Training’, the training was aimed at creating awareness among the community and medical practitioners about basic medical aid that patients should be provided before they can reach a hospital.

According to the handout, the training was held on October 17, 18, 24 and 25. Addressing trainees at the concluding ceremony, KTH Chief Executive Professor Dr Inayat Shah Roghani said KTH was the first hospital to take the initiative in light of the increasing terrorist attacks in the province.

“In case of an emergency, many patients die before reaching the hospital which is why the sessions focused on first aid so that casualties can be reduced,” said Roghani. KTH Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Ali Chohan said around 100 more people will be trained by the end of the year.
