Knowledge and understanding gained from reading far more comprehensive than reading material on the internet

Press Release October 27, 2014

LAHORE:

Government College University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Khliqur Rahman urged publishers participating in the university’s grand book fair to offer bigger discounts on books to students. The three-day fair that started on Sunday has been organised to inculcate a love for books among the youth. Rahman said information technology could not replace the importance of the written word. He said books would remain significant in the cyber age.

Rahman said books always left an indelible impression on readers’ minds. He said the knowledge and understanding gained from reading was far more comprehensive than that derived from reading material on the internet.

Rahman urged the publishers participating in the fair to offer maximum discounts at their books for the benefit of students.

He expressed his desire to see a culture of reading to flourish in the city by the university’s initiative. Rahman directed those managing the fair to facilitate the visitors.
