PESHAWAR: Fatima Khan of Hazara clinched the individual team trials trophy in the Women Cycling event in the ongoing Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Games being played at the Qayyum Sports Complex.

There were six female cyclists including Sabeeha of Hazara, Hina Nawaz of Peshawar, Asma of Mardan, Nudrat of Charsadda, Tanavish of Kohat and Nazish of Swat who was injured after falling off her bi-cycle.

In the one-kilometre individual time trial race, Fatima of Hazara finished the race in 1.38.50 seconds, followed by Hina Nawaz of Peshawar with 1.43.63 seconds, Wajiha Sundas, also from Peshawar, finished in 1.46.60 seconds, Ayesha of Nowshera finished in 1.46.72 seconds, Arifa of Nowshera  finished I 1.52.45 seconds and Gulpari finished in 2.05.56 seconds.

Asma of Mardan, Nudrat and Sidra of Charsadda, Shagufta and Tanavish of Kohat, Sumera and Nazish of Swat and Palwasha Khan and Hina of Abbottabad competed in the race and finished the race in almost two minutes.

In the time trial one-kilometre race, the Haripur team won the team Championship trophy with a clock time 1.55.16 seconds. The team comprised of Fatima, Sabeeha, Maham and Hina and showed tremendous class and tried hard to defeat both Nowshera and Peshawar by just two seconds.

The District Nowshera team including Ayesha, Arifa, Nousheen and Khatija with a time of 1.57.27 seconds got the runner-up position and the Peshawar team comprising of Wajeha Sundas, Hina Nawaz, Tahira and Mehvish with time 1.59.20 seconds got third position.

The cycling track in the Qayyum Sports Complex prepared for this purpose had two difficult turns and most of the injured fell on the ground while going through these turnings as a result they sustained injuries.

In the meantime, the organisers decided to hold the remaining part of the event inside the Qayyum Sports Complex on the athletic track instead of on the roads. Teams from Peshawar, Hazara, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Swat, and Charsadda took part. At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and certificates to the winners and runner-ups.
