It seems like George Clooney has done his wife Amal Clooney a power of good by stepping into her life. The barrister and human rights activist has been named London’s most powerful woman by the London Evening Standard, a British publication, reported E! Online.

Ranking fourth on the newspaper’s annual power ranking, Amal fell behind Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, Mayor Boris Johnson and neuroscientist Demis Hassabis, Al Arabiya News reported.  She outpaced Hollywood A-listers including model-designer Victoria Beckham, who she ranked five places ahead of.

Among the notable women featured on the list are Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousufzai who ranked 12th and singer-songwriter Kate Bush who landed the 16th spot.

Amal Clooney, who has returned to work after her high-profile wedding in Italy, is currently working on a case pertaining to the Parthenon Marbles, the ancient Greek statues which are partially housed in the British Museum in London stated Al Arabiya News.

The publication noted that Amal Clooney was awarded a position among the top four is because of her efforts towards helping Greece reclaim antiquities from England. Amal, who recently wed Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor in a star-studded wedding in Venice, changed her surname from Alamuddin to Clooney last week.

A prominent absentee from the list was the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who bagged a spot in Time’s 2013 ‘Most Influential People in the World’ list. This can be attributed to her recently cancelling out several royal engagements due to suffering from severe pregnancy illness as she awaits the birth of her second child.
