Police official says kidnappers demanded ransom, threatened to kill man on non-payment

BAHAWALPUR: Rahim Yar Khan police on Sunday claimed to have recovered a man who was kidnapped a month ago. District Police Officer Sohail Chattha told newsmen that Saeed Ahmad Cheema was abducted a month ago. He said two days after he went missing, the kidnappers called Cheema’s family to demand ransom. He said they threatened to kill him if they failed to pay. He said Saddar Sadiqabad had registered a case and a team was formed to find Cheema and his kidnappers. He said police traced the kidnappers to a house in the desert. Chatta said when the police team arrived at the house, the suspects fled. He said Cheema was found in the house. The DPO said Cheema’s statement had been recorded and efforts were being made to find and arrest his kidnappers.
