Lashing out: JI K-P chief criticises PTI’s sit-in

Ibrahim says JI will launch Tehreek-e-Pakistan movement from Lahore on November 21

Criticising the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s mode of protest in the federal capital, Jamaat-e-Islami K-P Ameer Professor Mohammad Ibrahim Khan on Sunday said that “singing and dancing will not bring a change in the country.”

Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of party office-bearers in Karak district, Ibrahim said a statement had earlier been issued from the party’s secretariat quoting him as saying that JI is supporting the demands of electoral reforms made by the participants of the Azadi march. “However, now the protesters have changed their objectives which the JI does not support,” said Ibrahim.

Ibrahim said JI will launch Tehreek-e-Pakistan movement from Lahore on November 21 to fulfil the real purpose of the creation of Pakistan.

The K-P ameer spoke about Operation Zarb-e-Azb, saying the military offensive should end as soon as possible and the displaced tribesmen should be repatriated. “Such operations in the past have not culminated in anything successful,” he added.

Incidentally, JI, the PTI’s coalition partner in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has taken to criticising PTI over its ongoing protest in Islamabad. However, JI Ameer Sirajul Haq himself has steered clear of such statements. Haq has been acting as a mediator between the protesters and government since August.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, JI’s provincial Spokesperson Israrullah Advocate said around 100,000 party workers from K-P will participate in the three-day-long Tehreek-e-Pakistan gathering.
