Aiming for growth: Women entrepreneurs receive encouragement

FAISALABAD: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Vice President Naima Ansari said women entrepreneurs should be encouraged to establish close links in order to increase exports of unconventional items and handicrafts from Pakistan.

She was addressing a meeting held in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here Thursday.

She said that women chambers have been established to tap potential entrepreneurs.

“But these are restricted to major cities and there is a dire need to create viable linkages between women entrepreneurs from all over Pakistan.”

It was necessary to share the benefits of women entrepreneurs from major and small cities across the country, she added. She said that exporters could provide their exportable products on credit to female entrepreneurs so that they can display them at foreign exhibitions.  This will not only be a lucrative situation for both of them but will also bring the added dividend of promotion of a softer image of Pakistan, she remarked.

FCCI President Rizwan Ashraf said Pakistan had received international awards like Nobel and Oscar courtesy its leading women.

He stressed the need to work in the social sector with a focus on education and health.

Ashraf said that Pakistani women have excelled despite discouraging circumstances.
