ISLAMABAD: While expressing his confidence in the existing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the latter’s representative in Islamabad Mustafa Caner Evran said that these ties need to be further strengthened.

Talking to the media here, Evran said that TRNC is very grateful to Pakistan for supporting the cause of the Northern Cypriot people by highlighting the unjust isolation imposed on them at every platform. Pakistan has supported all resolutions of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) to lift the sanctions imposed on TRNC, he added.

“It has been a long time since we have had “observer” status in the OIC. We should be given full member status and we expect Pakistan’s support on this issue,” he said.  Expressing a hope of enhancing the current low volume of trade between Pakistan and TRNC, Evran said that the launch of the cargo train can improve economic and trade relations.
