ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines has planned to induct another 10 A320 aircraft on a six-year dry lease while five 60 seater ATR 72 aircraft will be inducted in the fleet in the near future.

The national flag carrier has received a delivery of two A320 aircraft from air via Bulgarian Airways on wet lease while it has acquired two latest technology fuel efficient Boeing 737-800 aircraft on wet lease from Turkish based Corondon Airlines.

The aircraft haves arrived at Karachi airport and will be deployed on domestic and international routes, according to a PIA spokesperson.

“These aircrafts are being put into operation immediately and to be deployed on domestic and international routes," he said.

The induction of more fuel efficient aircrafts in the fleet will help increase revenue for the airline, provide better services to customers and improve the flight schedule of the airline.

“The aircrafts are being inducted keeping in view the airline's requirement and with complete transparency in accordance with PPRA rules,” he added.

In July and August, PIA received a delivery of an A320 aircraft on dry lease.

"We will be able to restore our flights frequencies and introduce new destinations for the convenience of our passengers," he added.

As part of PIA’s revival programme the national flag carrier is in the process of acquiring fuel efficient aircrafts on priority and has floated tenders accordingly.

@Mohammad,

The airplanes acquired from Turkey based Airline are on "wet lease" which means the crew and Pilots are also from Turkey, so that is the main reason why your flight was very "bumpy" as you said it. PIA's own pilots are one of the best, and are known for the smooth take offs and landings.

I have travelled on Turkish base airline's lease from DXB-LHE and can't express my dissatisfaction of the quality of the rights. The bumps were so big that even adults were afraid, apart from kids.

The most horrible experience was when landing on Lahore Airport... This is not a usual practice from PIA pilots who always offer smooth and relaxing flights while taking off and landing. It means that something wrong with these aircrafts.
