MUZAFFARABAD:

Indian forces violated the ceasefire twice in 24 hours on the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday and fired mortar shells at civilian populated areas in Kailer and Nezapir sectors of Haveli district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Monday.

“Pakistani troops befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing,” said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement. Three hours later, the Indian forces again fired gunshots at Kairni Mohri village in Nezapir sector, injuring a 40-year-old-woman Sharifa Jan who was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Pakistani forces retaliated and targeted posts of the Indian forces on the other side of the LoC. More than 12 people have been killed and 54 others injured in Indian firing along the LoC and Working Boundary over the past two weeks. Unprovoked Indian firing has triggered an exodus of people from the villages near the LoC and Working Boundary.
