ABBOTABAD:

A woman died while trying to rescue her mother-in-law from an accidental fire in the kitchen of their residence in a remote village of Havelian tehsil, police said on Monday.

Sarwar Khan of Rajoya village told the police his wife Amraizan Jan was cooking in the kitchen using an LPG cylinder on Sunday afternoon when the cylinder exploded. As a result, Jan’s clothes caught fire and her daughter-in-law, Naseem Bibi, 28, who was busy doing other household chores, rushed to the kitchen to rescue her.

However, Naseem’s clothes also caught fire and both women sustained severe burn injuries.

Relatives later doused the flames and rushed the women to Ayub Medical Complex where Naseem died of 80% burn injuries while Jan, who had sustained 50% burn injuries, survived and was admitted to the burns ward.
