PIA inducts two Airbus A320 aicrafts on wet lease

The aircraft will be deployed on domestic and international routes

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Monday added two A320 aircraft to its fleet which have been wet leased from Air VIA, Bulgarian Airways.

The aircraft arrived at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi on Monday and will be deployed on domestic and international routes.

PIA plans to induct another ten A320 aircraft on a six year dry lease, while five 60 seater ATR 72 aircraft are also expected to be added to the fleet soon.

PIA Managing Director Shahnawaz Rehman said that the state-owned airline plans to induct more fuel efficient aircraft in its fleet to help increase revenue and improve its flight schedule.

He added that the aircraft are being inducted with the PIA airline requirements in mind and with complete adherence to PPRA rules.

With the induction of two planes the airline is now short of around 400 employees, 25 or so pilots, and a half a dozen new directors.
