According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army ‘befittingly responded to Indian unprovoked firing. However, no casualties were reported from either side of the LoC.
Later on in the evening, Indian troops violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing in Nezapir sector near Rawlakot on LoC.
Exchanges of sporadic fire are common along the de facto border dividing the region, despite a ceasefire pact signed in 2003. But the extent and intensity of the latest violence and the number of civilian deaths is unusual.

@AnjaanHindustani you are quite right, but do u think that any one of these governments will rest? Regardless of who started this, it is a foolish thing, going around killing any other Indian or Pakistani, your actions screaming blood for blood when all u r doing is causing more bloodshed, loss of lives and doing exactly what the other did hence why u started hating them. Funny that even powerful politicians act worse than children. Of course, its not that it isn't a big deal as it is; we killed each others people. Took lives. Murdered. And that, look at it in any way, taking lives of men, women and children, is wrong and if both sides don't sit down and resolve this issue MODERATELY, then these past decades of war and fights shall continue at no end. And what do we get at the end of the day other than anger, thirst for revenge and funerals? India and Pakistanis have fought over many years, spending a lot of money on both sides fighting each other. And both these governments do NOT have enough money to waste like that. Can you remind me what their literacy rates are? How many poor exist in each country and how man people go day to day, without basic necessities of life like food, clothes, houses, shoes, bathrooms and what not? Take whom ever nations side you please, but answer me Pakistanis and Indians, what will this solve? Is this necessary? Is there no other way to find a solution? Look back at times like 1906, formation of the Lucknow Pact and such, look at how much you accomplished together. I'm not asking you to shake hands on the issue and forget about it as I know you cannot and will not, but an eye for an eye makes a person blind and the last thing we nations need is that so I request to you, the government, to please take this matter into importance.
what I don't understand is why is India so adamant upon proving to pakistan that it is a stronger nation? It is 3 times the size of pakistan,it certainly should be.India will constantly bully akistan and mislead it's public into thinking that pakistan provokes ceasefire violations.Pakistan army is busy killing the terrorists, why would it attack india on the opposite side.India should just go waste it's time bullying china,oh I forgot India does not have the balls to do that!
The only way to stop the kashmir issue seems is that if india and pakistan gets united in the near future after civillians in both countries starts to understand each other. In this way kashmir can be of both pakistan and india. And one nation comprising of indian and pakistanis would be surely a major superpower in the world! And of course the major problem of both countries will be solved for eternity. Be not guide urself only by media . Truth can be something else as well. We young people must realise we can't change the history but future depends solely on us.
Why is India not allowing UNMOGIP to survey the area on its side of the border? Shows that is want to hide something. Yet we have Indians accusing us falsely and making it sound as if what they are saying it were the truth and only the truth. Indians always win the propaganda war against Pakistan. Congratulations!
ET: please do not block Why would India attack Pakistan across the Line of Control and across the working boundary? Facts to consider: 1) Pakistan refreshed the Kashmir issue by raising it in UNGA. 2) Pakistan talked with Hurriyat leaders, annoying Modi. 3) India was agitated because of the two developments, as given above. 4) Modi has warned of a proactive policy against Pakistan. 5) Therefore, all the reasons given above why would India not initiate cross border shelling to assert it policy to make Pakistan “forget” Kashmir?
Fact to consider for Pakistanis
If Indians have violated ceasefire, what's in it for them to do so? No, opening a new front when Pakistan is bogged down by internal issues is not a logical answer. Why? Because it will internationalize the Kashmir issue which India doesn't want. But Pakistan wants! It's important for Pakistani army to push militants in India before snowfall blocks the passes. But this time it's getting harder for them as India has upgraded their security and taken an aggressive stance. Why is Pakistani army blacking out media coverage in the areas involved in cross border firing. Probably truth will be exposed. You see, you get updates only via ISPR. Whatever they say, you take that for granted without feeling the need for verifying the truth! Why are villages on Pakistani sides are already vacated before ceasefire violations happen? That's because Pakistanis decide from which post they will fire, and India only retaliates only to that post. You guys have developed a habit of blaming India for each and every of your problem. India doesn't sends militants in Pakistan, nor they conduct operations like Mumbai attack and attack on Parliament. We Indians believe that Pakistan will kill themselves in the internal conflict. We don't have to do anything at all. We are more focused on our development rather than in Pakistan. But yes, under Modi, if any enemy tries to attack out borders, we will retaliate strongly. Like it's happening on the borders.
ET, please publish.
@Usman.. failed attempt mr. indian troll .. im from Karachi and i can assure you all of us are willing to die for Pakistan's integrity and epecially if its against India
@Usman:
Don't be so excited. Karachi will be the "first" city to turn to ashes in any India-Pakistan nuclear confrontation due to the naval base there. And you don't even have an Anti-missile ballistic missile system to lessen the blow!
Go Go India, the people of Karachi are with India.
@ AnjaanHindustani Very well said. You summed up the situation well.
Pakistan is much smaller than india in each and every respect inc. economy, democratic history, military and internatinal recognition. Pakistan needs to move on from its past and become an democracy in real terms. Blessing from indian
@Jay & @Truth Detector And China use you. Whole Pakistani market is flooded with Chienese goods!
@AnjaanHindustani - "This is the 21st century. We need to look forward. Wars are a thing of the past."
This is fine in theory.. Unless the rogue Pakistani army is tamed, there would be no lasting peace.
It is not known if Pakistan has learned lessons from the 2002 India-Pakistan eyeball-to-eyeball standoff. India had amassed ten thousand troops on the Rajasthan border and seemed to threaten bisecting Pakistan by invading across from Rajasthan to Sukkur. If India actually wants to repeat something similar in the near future, what kind of weapons has Pakistan developed to stop India invasion?
@jay: Your response shows your ignorace.
Every year there is lots of firing at the border before the winter to let the militants slip into India. India probably did not escalate this as much in the past. There is a message from the new Indian Government, if you do not want status quo in relationship, then we need to genuinely behave differently from past. Pakistan continues to do what it is doing all along, meet hurriyat when it has a very important meeting with the Indian officials, hurriyat meeting adds no value and only acts as an irritant. Military abets sending militants across border etc... Modi has genuinely reached out to South Asian neighbours after his election. Pakistan being the naughty boy all along cannot play victim mentality. World will see through it.
War of befitting responses LOL
Okay, So I have been observing this website and popular Indian news websites/channels for quite sometime. I think, its something else other than the soldiers provoking each other at the international border. I mean, keeping both the Indian/Pakistan trolls aside, neither of the ordinary citizens from both sides of the border want a war. Until very recently we were busy with promoting "Aman Ki Asha" thing and now we are firing bullets at each other day and night. Regardless of who started it, we need to get our heads straight and stop this stupid behavior. Innocent lives are being targeted because of the immaturity from both the governments. I am a BJP supporter but I think they're acting a bit immaturely on this matter. Needless to say, the NS government isn't doing anything better. This is the 21st century. We need to look forward. Wars are a thing of the past. We do not need to shed blood in order to prove superiority over one another. There is absolutely no point in getting our hands dirty with these wars for petty issues. As for Kashmir, I think both India and Pakistan need to give it a rest for some time. And when I say give it a rest, I mean absolute rest. Kashmir needs to be given a lower priority on both countries agendas. They both should focus on improving the lives of the ordinary citizens in their respective country( including development in their respective Kashmir). Enough of money has been spend on this state and I kid you not, the ordinary citizens have suffered as much as the Kashmiris these past 2-3 decades( Since the rise of the militancy). Lets get together and make South Asia a powerhouse. The western troops should not have the balls to step on our lands and shed our blood(Yes, we share the same blood. History 101).
I think its time that we wake up and stop electing leaders that make us pick Trishuls or Swords against each on any god damn thing(And no, Modi still hasn't spewed venom on any of the minority community since becoming the PM). Cheers to the sane citizens of India and Pakistan.
While Americans have been bombing and killing innocent tribals openly for the last many many years all we do is give lip service like condemning including our army. We have never tried to retaliate or defend against drones.
And here we are at the drop of a hat we stArt retaliating strongly against India.
I think we should do the same with all our enemies not just india.
I strongly believe that some third party is involved . Both the sides genuinely blame the other side . Both sides r not foolish enough to start. War .
It seems Mr. Modi has been filled with so much hubris after US trip that he is loosing sense of reality. Surly, arrogance has no bounds.
The Indian people (minus the Internet trolls) need to knock some sense into their new PM. He is burning taxpayers money on unprovoked firing in the name of national security. Pakistan is rooting out terrorist on the other side. Doesn't need to open a new front. Good to read there is a tit for tat response by Pak army. thumbs up
