The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration conducted a major operation at Karachi Airport, arresting a woman involved in begging under the pretext of performing Umrah.
According to FIA’s spokesperson, the woman, identified as Gul Shana, was arrested upon her arrival from Saudi Arabia. She had traveled on flight XY313 and was intercepted as soon as she landed in Karachi.
The arrested woman appeared to be completely unaware of the proper procedures for performing Umrah. During questioning, she confessed to engaging in begging while in Saudi Arabia. She revealed that she would collect around 100 Saudi Riyals daily through begging.
The woman also mentioned that her relatives were similarly involved in begging in Saudi Arabia, and her husband was also engaged in the same illegal activity. Investigations into her husband's role are ongoing.
The arrested woman has been transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Karachi for further legal action, and investigations continue.
Earlier yesterday, The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of cocaine into Pakistan at Karachi's Jinnah International Airport.
A Brazilian woman, arriving on a flight from Brazil, was arrested for attempting to smuggle 1.396 kilograms of cocaine concealed in her undergarments.
According to ANF officials, the woman had appeared suspicious during passenger clearance, prompting a search.
During the search, authorities discovered the cocaine hidden in a plastic pouch inside her undergarments.
The total value of the seized drugs was estimated at over Rs13.9 million.
A case was registered against the woman under the Narcotics Control Act, and further investigations were underway.
ANF officials noted that drug trafficking networks continued to employ increasingly sophisticated methods to smuggle narcotics, but the force remained committed to combating drug smuggling.
Previously, ANF had seized drugs worth over Rs4.2 million across the country in a series of anti-smuggling operations.
According to an official spokesperson, the ANF's crackdown on drug smuggling in educational institutions and various cities across the country continued.
In these operations, 13 suspects were arrested, and 37 kilograms of drugs were seized, with a total value exceeding Rs4.2 million.
The ANF recovered 90 grams of hashish from a suspect near a university in Islamabad.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to selling drugs to students in educational institutions, Express News reported.
Cases were registered against the arrested suspects under the Anti-Narcotics Act, and investigations were underway.
