Violence round-up: Three people killed in the city

KARACHI:


Three people were killed in separate incidient in different parts of the metropolis, while an injured political worker died during treatment on Sunday.


An elderly man was killed while his driver was injured in Landhi. Police officials said that the deceased was identified as 60-year-old Iqbal, son of Muhammad Ramzan. They said he used to run an installment company. He was in his car going home after work when unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him. It is believed that he was shot over refusing to pay extortion, said the officials. They added that his driver, 40-year-old Jahangir, was also injured in the attack. The body and the injured were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

A young man, identified as 28-year-old Rasheed alias Malang, son of Amanullah, was targeted in MPR Colony, Orangi Town. Police officials said that the deceased was sitting at a paan shop when unidentified men on a motorcycle shot and killed him. They added that the incident took place over a personal enmity. Further investigations are under way.

In a separate incident, 27-year-old Waleed, son of Ali Muhammad, was killed in Nazimabad. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Shaukat, son of Shafiuddin, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
