It would have been virtually impossible for the PTI (or any other party or agency) to predict how many people were going to attend the rally. That the numbers in attendance vastly exceeded the resources of the organisers to cater for them cannot be blamed on the PTI, but it does put down a marker yet again for regulating authorities which license public events, both large and small. The control of entrances and exits is of crucial importance if ‘crushes’ are to be avoided and there appears to be poor coordination and control of entry and exit points in this instance. Several of the exit gates to the stadium were reportedly closed for ‘security reasons’ — and there might have been a different outcome had they been opened. It is unlikely that lessons will have been learned, but it is to be hoped that all concerned take note — even if they then choose not to heed the warnings.

A VVIP does what he is supposed to do. The foot soldiers should "mind their own business". Ever heard of the division of labour?
The tribune must partake in unbiased reporting!! Please stop shifting the blame entirely on the government and local authorities. The PTI insisted on this venue and had the "regulatory authorities" said NO, the PTI would have found another entry for their blame game! Its shameful to see national leaders point fingers and fight like hormonal teenagers! And the EXTREMELY BIASED REPORTING OF THE MEDIA HOPING TO ABSOLVE THE PTI IS EQUALLY SHAMEFUL! Instead of focussing on dharna and jalsas, the PTI should focus on running their government and letting their actions speak louder than their words or pointed fingers. having said this, I was a huge fan of the tribune...but I was forced to change my opinions and doubt their credibility over the last few weeks. the purpose of the media is to STATE FACTS, NOT FORM OPINIONS FOR THE PUBLIC!
What I saw on TV shows another story. People were injured and were helped by many onlookers and IK and others did not even interrupt their speeches to help this injured.. In fact one speaker said they will be alright. And these guys want to change Pakistan. It appears the only that will change if they win is new bottles with old wine.I say go home and leave us alone.
Everybody would be blamed except the organizers who have seen their worker taking the chairs home, IK falling off to serious injuries, and stage broken, to name a few. Yet it is always somebody else''s fault. The VIP and their kids did not get killed or hurt. The only poor and less fortunate became dead and injured. Hashmi has been an insider of PTII and has already disclosed that there were deaths planned in Islamabad dharna and on the model of Model Town agitation would get the final impetus. Hashmi is not all evil and has sacrificed great deal for democracy and army dictatorship while IK and Qureshi have not seen jail for 7 days let alone 7 long years. This incident should be seen in the light of his previous and new statements. This is also a lesson for poor daily wage workers that they should keep themselves and their kids away from such events just like the rich leaders do.
