Troubled family: Man commits suicide over separation from wife

Police say his wife had been living at her paternal home after a quarrel

FAISALABAD:

Police said on Thursday that a man had committed suicide by swallowing poison in Saddar area.

Police said that his wife had been living at her paternal home after a quarrel. They said he had tried to reconcile with her but failed.

Police said he had been depressed and had committed suicide by swallowing poison. Noor Din, a relative of the deceased, said his wife had asked for new clothes for Eid.

When he said he was not able to fulfil her desire, she had moved to her paternal home.

He said he had visited her at her parents’ house to placate her. He said he had urged elders to mediate but they had refused.

Din said he had approached her again on Eid and promised to buy her new clothes but she had snubbed him.

He said after he fainted he was taken to a hospital where he died.

Saddar police said the body had been handed over to the family of the deceased after the completion of formalities.
