For several leading businesses, hydropower generation is a cheaper option compared to other modes of energy production. However, according to the business community, there is an urgent to for construction of numerous dams in the country to judiciously exploring the existing potential of this sector. Dams are aimed at helping overcome the energy problem and turn the wheels of the industry to run at their full capacity. An economist Dr Touseef Akhtar said the construction of dams is vital for fulfilling energy needs of the country at this moment. He said the Dasu and Diamer-Bhasha dams are essential for Pakistan. “The construction of both dams will not only fulfill the water needs of the country but also help overcome the energy crisis. The country has achieved economic stability due to positive policies of the government.
